I haven't been drawing because I have been uber busy. I'll post the painted couch pictures once they're done, but I've had some problems with painting them so it's taking longer than anticipated.
I will also post pictures of the kitchen in it's current state. Painting is done (minus a little touch-ups). The counters have been tiled, and the knobs for the drawers have had a face-lift. It's looking great!
Note: Please excuse the blog. I've been re-working the design, and it's still VERY much a WIP. I will try to make it more appealing soon :)
And now for the Weekly Find!
Weekly Find:
I googled Gustav Klimpt and was reading about his life on Wikipedia. I then clicked the link to the Vienna Secession page, which tells about the art group founded by Klimpt and others. While scrolling through the page, I happened upon the image of these lovely owls which are on the facade of the Secession building.Judengstil Owls
These owls were made by Koloman Moser, who was also part of the Vienna Secession. He designed various things from paintings to stained glass to furniture. I love the contemporary feel these owls have, even though they were made at the turn-of-the century. They are both modern and old, drawing heavily from art forms centuries ago. They are so timeless.I've had a thing for birds recently, especially owls. I love the freedom that birds embody. The way they sail through the air... they're so pretty. Always wandering...
Thanks for reading my rant and mushy gushy schpeel about birds. Until next post then! -Yarska
Gustav Klimt is one of my favorites. I love how he uses his background in textile design to give his subjects lavish, elaborate clothing.
ReplyDeleteAlso. The owls. Don't you just love clean lines, good use of negative space and decisive tones? That makes for timeless art. Thanks for sharing.
Klimt is awesome. I love the Kiss that's hanging on your house. That's where I first saw his work. I'm glad you liked them too :D
